Message from the Chairman

We have run our Mini and Junior sections since the mid 1970s, starting in 1974 with just 2 coaches and 10 players. Thanks to the hard work of club members, parents and players over the years we now run teams from Under 6 through to Under 17 in our mini and junior sections for both boys and girls.

We are Luton’s only Community Rugby Club and the only one in Bedfordshire with the ‘Year 4 Seal of Approval’. While the RFU has suspended the Seal of Approval programme due to lack of funding the club will continue to maintain these standards and improve on them over the coming season through own funding and sponsorship.

The club is heavily involved in the community and currently runs sessions on Monday and Wednesday evenings at community centres in the Luton area and hope to increase these sessions to include Saturdays in the coming months. This year for the first time the club will have dedicated personnel that will look to increase our involvement in the Luton community and surrounding areas. We will also continue with the first Scout group – rugby club partnership in the UK with the Someries District Scout group.

Our close links with the Saracens will continue this season and our players will continue to take part in pre-match activities, including Guard of Honour at various matches as well as playing pre-match and half-time games in front of over 9000+ people at Vicarage Road and the new stadium at Allianz Park.

Whatever your skill, shape, size or experience level, we have a place for you at Stockwood Park. It does not matter if you are just starting, experienced or do not believe that you are especially talented, our experienced and fully qualified coaches will teach you how to play rugby to the best of your ability.

The support and involvement of parents and friends is encouraged in all aspects of the club from the day to day administration, ticket sales, organising events, coaching and helping out on match days.

Rugby is a social game and a sport for all and we aim to ensure that all players have fun both on and off the pitch. We pride ourselves on the family atmosphere of the club and new members, visitors, spectators, wives, girlfriends and children are most welcome.

In addition to the rugby, the club hosts a number social activities over the season such as quiz nights, discos, BBQs, horse racing evenings, formal dinners, Christmas parties and an end of season party.

I would like to thank the outgoing Chair Lee Allen for the work and time he has devoted to the club over the last 7 years and wish him luck in his new role as the Community Coach and Officer at the club.

I look forward to meeting you all again during the year in my new role as the Mini and Junior section Chairman and wish players and coaches every success and a lot of fun during the coming season.
