Poachers beaten in battle
East Midlands Plate U14 Final
Poachers 12 - 36 Northampton Old Scouts
The Poachers travelled to Peterbrough for their second final of the season to play Northampton Old Scouts in the East Midlands Plate final.
Old Scouts had some big lads playing, including a 6ft tall Samoan centre and no less than England star Courtney Lawes' brother playing at no 8. From the off, the power and size was put to good use, and although the Stockwood team tried they were steamrolled for the first try.
Poachers lose in final
Beds Cup U14 Final
Poachers 0 - 22 Bedford
Bedford and the Poachers met for the third time this season, and this was the best game yet. Bedford have the luxury of a large squad and chose their biggest pack to ensure the 22 men of Stockwood were under pressure at scrum and lineout at all times. The Poachers' resolve was their 23rd man and they defended well for long periods and kept trying to break the Blues lines. Finally, Bedford's size showed and the first try came with a lucky bounce and crashing through to score 5-0. Poachers kept going and defended well, holding Bedford with some fine tackling from forwards' man of the match Joe Brady.
Poachers into 3rd final of season
East Midlands League Shield Quarter Final
Poachers 27 - 22 St Neots
This week the Poachers found out they have made it to the final 3 in the Luton Sports Awards young team of the year .
The Stockwood Park Poachers made the 40 mile trip to St Neots on a cold wet day for their quarter final game away at St Neots.
The game started in driving rain with the Poachers holding the attacking St Neots off for the first 5 minutes. The Poachers broke lines well with some fine link up work from Frankie Daly and backs' man of the match Gareth Lewis allowing the centres Kasper Franczac and Phillip Ackuaku crashing through and drawing in players. The game was end to end with St Neots scoring an unconverted try to lead 5-0. The Poachers came straight back in to the game with a fine kick and chase and quick ball allowing Peter Kimondo in with the first try converted by Lewis.
U15's nose past Ruislip
29th January 2012
Stockwood Park 17 - 14 Ruislip
It's been a while since our last report and a lot has happened between the Huntingdon Game and the Latest fixture against Ruislip and not all of it good. But in a very quick round up, we had been on a bad run albeit on some occasions very unlucky?! After Huntingdon, we had a very close game with Tabard, considering our last meeting was a 50 point thrashing, losing by just 10 points in a high scoring affair was a good performance 26-36.
Good result for U12's
22nd January 2012
Game 1
Stockwood Park 35 – 0 Milton Keynes
Playing away from home is always a challenge but Stockwood started out focused and within a minute of the start had Malachy Norling peeling off the back of a scrum close to MK's line with scrumhalf Gomm in close support, however Norling burst through the defence and went crashing through for the first try of the day.
Mixed results for Stockwood U12's
4th December 2011
Game 1
Stockwood Park 35 – 0 Old Abanian C Team
With winter announcing its arrival with a temperature of 5 degrees at the start of the 1st game, Stockwood Park got off to a good start when Shane Thomas playing at flyhalf was provided with ball off the back off the first scrum from Alex Gomm at scrumhalf and crashed over for Stockwood’s first try early in the game. With the Stockwood Park forwards dominating in the scrum, the back line were provided with plenty of ball off the back of the set pieces. Alex Gomm and Alfie Siblia at fullback made good breaking runs resulting in tries for each from within the Stockwood half, both off the back of set pieces and with the Old Albanian defence going backward because of the pressure from the scrums.
Harpenden shutdown Stockwood U12's
20th November 2011
Stockwood Park under 12's were given a comprehensive lesson in rucking and mauling today by Harpenden, resulting in a 25 to 5 defeat for SPRFC. Starved of the ball, the SPRFC back line never got a look in as Harpenden backs enjoyed most of the possession during the game allowing them to attack Stockwood phase after phase. To Stockwood Park's credit, both the backs and the forwards held their defensive line and put in tackle after tackle to stop Harpenden from completely capitalising on their possession.
U15's beaten by Tabard
20th November 2011
Stockwood Park 26 - 36 Tabard
With the good weather continuing, this was another chance for us to guage our improvement as last years' fixture was a sound 56 – 0 thrashing. Tabard are a very strong rugby club with a lot of the boys coming from private schools in Hertfordshire who play a lot of Rugby. We have always had a warm welcome but have never come away with anything. Perhaps home soil might help.
With injuries continuing to stop the strongest team from playing, it was nice to see a debutant on the field in the form of Tyrone. A fast straight runner who shows no fear and a lot of promise.
U15's go down to Huntingdon
13th November 2011
Stockwood Park 17 - 60 Huntingdon (EML)
As Armistice Day dawned, the start of our East Midlands League adventure was upon us and we were entering the game with high hopes and spirit. 4 wins on the bounce and a very creditable performance against Ampthill should put us in a good place entering this game. The only slight downer was that we were missing 3 of our better players through injury but the squad in recent weeks had raised its game to meet whatever had been thrown at it.
Under 9s continue good start to season
9th October 2011
Stockwood Park 55 - 5 Bletchley
Stockwood Park Under 9's continued their excellent start to the season with another fine victory over Bletchley RFC. Bletchley were better organised than the previous week's opponents, but Park still managed to run in 11 tries and concede just one.
Under 9s post win in first games
2nd October 2011
Stockwood Park 100 - 0 Tabard
Stockwood Park were too strong for a decent Tabard side this Sunday. From the first phase of the first match when Izaac ran through the Tabard defence to score the first of 4 for him and the team's total of 20 tries in the day. Others on the scoresheet were Kanu with a total of 7, showing excellent strength to shrug off tackle after tackle, Seiya and Ronan with 3 each and Ollie, Josh & Ciaran running in 1 each.
